Furaha Sadi, whose first name means joy, is an independent singer, songwriter and producer from the DRC. She is the creator of the Congo Jazz Pop genre, a unique style merging the richness of her African roots with the influences of jazz and Western pop.
Since childhood, music has been her refuge. Jazz, discovered at a very young age, was her first musical love, while pop represented her opening to the Western world. Her career has been marked by the desire to tell her story and that of her culture through a spontaneous, soulful and unpredictable sound.
With Congo Jazz Pop, she mixes jazz, pop, classical music and storytelling to create songs deeply rooted in Congolese culture and universal in their scope.
Her daily life combines discipline and creativity: getting up early, sports, vocal warm-ups, meditation and family moments. Her motto: to know her inner voice and share it boldly.
Her Inspirations Are Varied:
- Tupac: for sincerity and outspokenness
- Nina Simone: for depth and emotional truth
- Stromae: for the art of storytelling
- Samana (Congolese artist): for contemporary local culture
- Classical and film music: for the structure and the cinematographic breath
For Furaha, each song is a story. Her instruments have characters: The bass represents "the little me", showing her own view of the world. The strings and brass instruments act as the eyes of others, conveying love, criticism, and encouragement.
She starts by choosing the mood, then builds the melody, adds the rhythms and sculpts the piece until it becomes a complete musical story. Her first single, Make Her Proud, was elaborated in several stages: from a simple melody hummed on her phone to the complete production, after two years of maturation.
